Archbishop
Kurtz of Louisville wrote an insightful article about his experience “lingering”
with fellow priests and how often we forget to do this in the modern world.
Blessed John
Paul II is remembered for how present
he was in the time he spent with others. He was not afraid to linger with
others, despite many responsibilities and time commitments.
If we aren’t
present in our relationships with
others, we are unable to authentically share Christ with them. More
importantly, if we aren’t present in
prayer, lingering in the presence of Our Lord, it is difficult to find the
Christ we are to share.
So let us
pray for the grace to linger in this New Year. Let us be free to know Christ
and to share Him with those we deeply love.
