Now
his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of the Passover. And when
he was twelve years old, they went up according to custom; and when the feast
was ended, as they were returning, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem.
His parents did not know it...
After
three days they found him in the temple, sitting among the teachers, listening
to them and asking them questions; and all who heard him were amazed at
his understanding and his answers (Lk 2:41-47).
According to the Catechism
of the Catholic Church, “The finding of Jesus in the temple is
the only event that breaks the silence of the Gospels about the hidden years of
Jesus. Here Jesus lets us catch a glimpse of the mystery of his total
consecration to a mission that flows from his divine sonship: ‘Did you not know
that I must be about my Father’s work?’ (Lk 2:49)” (CCC, 534).
While
meditating on the finding of Jesus in the temple, say one Our Father, 10 Hail Mary’s, and a Glory Be.
It is the
end of the month of the Holy Rosary, and we have now come to the end of our
prayer. Conclude by reciting the Hail Holy Queen and by making a Sign of the
Cross:
Hail,
Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness, and our hope. To
you we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To you we send up our sighs,
mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, O most gracious
advocate, your eyes of mercy toward us, and after this our exile, show unto us
the blessed fruit of your womb, Jesus. O clement! O loving! O sweet Virgin
Mary!
Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
